PLASTIC SURGEON

Blepharoplasty is the medical term for an eyelid lift.

Upper Blepharoplasties

Upper blepharoplasties are a relatively simple procedure with good results. There are different ways of performing blepharoplasties. One can just remove skin and muscle and a little fat is excised. The recovery is fairly quick with the sutures being removed after 5-6 days and bruising lasts not much more than one week. A natural result is optimal.
Lower Blepharoplasties

The fat in the lower eyelid should be preserved. I reinforce the layer that holds the fat back, removing only small amounts of fat and tensioning the orbicularis muscle which I think is responsible as well for some lower eyelid aging.

I believe in the past, that surgeons have removed too much fat when performing upper and lower blepharoplasties. Removing too much fat exacerbates loss of soft tissue resulting in hollowing of the eyes which is a sign of ageing. Natural results should be the aim.
